Chair based exercise
Providing the opportunity for everyone to exercise together
Chair based exercise is a great way to have the confidence to exercise no matter your ability or fitness. Suitable for people who have mobility issues, require more support to exercise or have a long term health condition that has previously prevented you from being physically active.
What happens in a class?
Anything and everything! The session is designed around you, and what you feel up to doing. We may have elements of standing exercises for those who feel they can do a little more, but if you don't want to stand there are alternatives that can be done in the seat so we can all exercise together and no-one feel s left out.
Sessions include exercises to help with mobility and flexibility to loosen up the joints all over the body, movement and games to help increase heart rate and breathing to improve fitness, strengthening exercises using various pieces of equipment from hand weights to resistance bands to ensure that the muscles are tested to help you carry out every day activities, and activities to test balance, co-ordination and memory. Finally and most important of all to have fun and socialise with others.
